high pressure is providing you with clear skies, that's why it is so cool here over all of nevada and california. this weak low along the coast will bring up just a little bit of light shower activity. most of you will see a quarter inch or more. is there more cold air on the way? this tracks the cold air from the arctic over the next seven days. you can see the blue shows where the cold is. it looks like for the most part throughout the upcoming weekend, much of the country warms up. then a little sliver of cold air comes down at us it. looks like tuesday, wednesday and thursday of next week and probably significantly kind of cold in areas of idaho and montana and near spokane. again, that's the middle of next week. so we get a little break from this cold spell. then it looks like next week gets chilly in the northwest, but today's forecast again, just a few late-day showers. that's the only weather headline out there. that's a look at the nationalou california, enjoyable right through the weekend. i don't think you mind the cold so much as long as it is sunny. when you get the c

autonomous vehicles, google and other companies now are suggesting that california florida and nevada have are to pass legislation on autonomous vehicles. they are ahead of us. we are the automotive capital of the world. we should be stepping up and making sure that we are on the forefront and i encourage that legislation. [applause] i'm now going to talk about something about schools and kids. you can put it under jobs or people. the point is having a great career and being successful. to give you an illustration there, one of the things we have is the other situation where we are not getting enough performance out of our educational system. only 20% of kids are college ready and that is unacceptable. over 60% of our kids have to take a remedial class when they go to community college and that is absolutely unacceptable. the toughest that we have is to simply failing schools. about two years ago we came up with the concept of saying, why don't we come up with a innovative format to deal with failing schools that can be a forum and a place to talk about innovation and education and show st

for interstate 880, colfax to the nevada state line and around highway 50. there you see the system sliding east of the sierra. we'll toss some late day clouds our way. overall, another cool, breezy afternoon. lots of sunshine here hour by hour as we head into the afternoon. our high temperatures only running into the 50s. for the sierra, a good year for snowfall. you'll see another good two to three inches in the next 24 hours. low to mid-50s around san francisco and the coast, where it's going to feel a little bit cooler, even with the sunshine today, thanks to the cool, chilly winds out of the southwest. as we head toward wednesday and thursday, high pressure is going to center itself over northern california, which will boost our temperatures up. and be looking at mid-60s at least in the warmest spots. second half of the weekend it looks like we'll carry that forecast into next weekend on a dry note. >> that's fantastic. good news. like to see the warmer temperatures coming back. >>> much more ahead on "today in the bay." coming up, are terrain parks being built without safety i

nevada supreme court, a constitutional officers, a senator heller and honored guests and my fellow nevada is. for nearly 150 ears governors before me have stood in front of this body and deliver the state of the state address. the personal delivery of biennial messages they honored tradition. i am proud to be here tonight to continue this tradition along with my wife, the first lady, kathleen, and my three children. thank you for your love and support. [applause] i want to take a moment and pause to remember to extraordinary nevadans both i had the honor to serve west first, a gene to and tired -- devoted her entire life as a mother, a schoolteacher and state legislator. her son is with us tonight to. tick, nevada will not soon forget your mother or her service. patients in states like arizona, nevada and north dakota, states have republican governors are leading the effort to expand medicaid. let me make that point abundantly clear. if we fail to act, montana taxpayer dollars will be used to provide health care to citizens thousands of miles away while they rates look to you to go up year after year. it's time we set politics aside on this issue. politics won't treat diabetes. extremism doesn't create jobs and intransigence will provide health care for those who can't afford it. all of a sudden i realized that it was a welcomed, welcomed visit to places like montana, nevada, north dakota, south dakota, alaska, you know, the eastern parts of washington and places where we didn't know that democrats were really strong. and one of the things i i learned and was, i was able to do as an asian-american was to find that we had pockets of asian-americans all through this country. and because of that, because of the -- you allowed me to do this that we were able to on op -- on top of all that bring into the fold asian-american democrats who in 1966 participated at 32%. and under obama all time that we worked together, obama had asian-american population at over 73% voting democratic. prison -- [applause] the dnc was a great part of that, and you allow me to be here and put my face on this podium and share in this opportunity in this country to tell our diaspora that we, too, are part of this process. being able to work with somebody like keith and the great leadership of belle. she has talkin' the committee to places that -- she has taken the committee to places
